App Review – Adobe Post

IMG_2495I have covered a few different apps that help you create graphics. The first was WordSwag and the app world exploded after that. One of the latest entries is from Adobe. It’s Called Adobe Post. As names go it’s pretty generic. I think we could have come up with a better one, but I digress.

Its an interesting app. Its very similar to the other apps i have covered. In that you can create posts for your blog, social media or online marketing. Unlike other apps the design is set for each design. You can delete items but adding something is something you can’t do easily.

After you download the app you need to sign in. You can use an Adobe sign in and I believe you can use Facebook Log in as well. I am not a fan of apps that make you log in. It adds another step that can be a pain. The benefit of logging in is to save your designs in the cloud. I wish it would allow you to use iCloud or Google Drive.

The design process goes this way. You choose a design to “Remix.” Remix is a way of saying editing. You can change all the text and add a picture. Its not hard to use at all. I would say this would be great for someone just getting into making your own images. It does everything for you. As I mentioned above it leaves very little to edit.

One thing that I really don’t like about the app is you can’t choose your own colors. Like other Apps they have a color palatte  that will do pre programed color combinations. It also changes the pictures color. See the picture at the top the post, the app changed the picture to a duo tone. In this instance I like the picture but hate the color of the text. I went through a few colors but I really didn’t like most of them.

One thing this app does that makes it amazing, is resizing. It will automatically resize your image for all the social networks. It will also do most major ratios as well. With one simple click you can create a Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. I have only seen this feature on Canva for Work. No other app I have seen or used, has had this amazing feature.

Pros:

  • Easy to use, perfect for beginners
  • Automatically resizes images for social media sites.
  • Updated Remixes on a regular basis

Cons:

  • Color Palette limits colors used
  • Sign in is required to use the app
  • Remixes are limited an may not meet your needs
  • Just available on iOS

The app is free in the iOS App store. I’d say for the cost its definitely worth having just for the resize abilities. I think the design ability is limited for those who want to change and tilt the text.
