Are you an Advocate?

One thing I have learned the last few AMA lunches and through Guest Relations Marketing are your biggest supports can help you spread information about your company/product/service to others. These individuals can be some of your best ambassadors.  This is done by one of the most effective forms of advertising, Word of Mouth.

You may ask, what is an Advocate? According to an advocate is:

  • –verb (used with object)
  • to speak or write in favor of; support or urge by argument; recommend publicly: He advocated higher salaries for teachers.
  • –noun
  • a person who speaks or writes in support or defense of a person, cause, etc. (usually fol. by of): an advocate of peace.
  • a person who pleads for or in behalf of another; intercessor.
  • a person who pleads the cause of another in a court of law..

An advocate is extremely brand loyal and feel personally invested in the brand. They seek out information and news about your brand. Then spread the word through blogs, Facebook, Twitter and word of mouth.

This made me think about what companies, products or services I am an advocate for:

Apple – I really love the Mac, iPod, iWork, iLife and the iPhone. It is one company I am always reading about and can’t wait for a new announcement.  I have used a Mac since they debuted in the 80’s and they are just easier to use to me.

Microsoft Excel – This maybe a shocker since I just listed Apple above but I think that Excel is one of the most useful spreadsheet products out there today. The only thing I don’t like lately is they took statistical analysis out of the Mac version.  But even with out that function it’s still one great tool

Coca-Cola Company – I have always loved Coke. Ever since I was little. The best example of how much I love Coke, is in Buyer Behavior in College, I was one of three people out of 30 to pick out Coke, Pepsi and RC Cola in a blind taste test!

Maggiano’s – I love Italian food, and Maggianos is my favorite restaurant. When asked if I want to go out for Italian that’s the first place that comes to mind. I love about everything they have on the menu.
