ME0014 – Chris Kovac speaking about Social Media Communications – Engagement

I continue my talk with Chris about how to get into social media. We both agree you have to start by monitoring then moving on into social. Its important to go where conversations are being held about you.

Start with Listening – Overview of free and paid social media monitoring tools, you don’t need to spend a lot of money up front to get into social medial.  Establish up front what you want to monitor (sentiment, followers, RT and etc), then when listening listen to brands, competitors and marketplace issues

Developing a message map – Start by audience and try to find key influencers to tarter. Make sure you tweak your message by the channel it will be delivered. Lastly get on an editorial schedule for the first three months to plan out your social media.

Creating relevant content – This could be as simple as repurposing a video you have already created, white papers. Find also user generated content from your customers to use. Lastly make sure your content is SEO friendly so it can be found!
