Hootsuite Understand Content Marketing

When I say HootSuite, you think of a great social media management platform. One that will help you mange all social accounts in one area. It also lets you schedule, respond and view analytics of posts. On the price scale it’s affordable for most small brands. However, did you know that they have a great blog about social media?

When you think of company blogs, not too many lead you to excitement. Especially ones you want to read a few times a week. Let’s face it most company blogs are just rehash of PR press releases and content that pertains only to the company. Maybe, you’ll get an infographic or philanthropic event at the company. HootSuite has taken the concept of their blog and proved themselves as a thought leader.

The HootSuite blog is less about the platform/company. Yes, they will have big changes to the service on the blog, as to be expected. They also have topics like “How to use social media Influence marketing to grow your small business.” Or, Why you should use Pinterest Analytics, lastly, How to break your lazy social media habits. They are making people thing and becoming a big thought leader in the world of social media marketing. They tag their blog as “Social media strategy, advice, and tips you can use—baked fresh, several times a day.”

My thoughts on how you become a thought leader are the following:

  • The blog is not about your or your brand, it’s about an industry
  • You don’t just report on news in the industry but also give analysis
  • Take on controversial topics to bring forward a conversation when needed
  • Share you knowledge and expertise on a specific industry

Being a thought leader is about helping others in the industry. HootSuite is doing that with their blog. They are diving into strategy, new media and examples. This is whether you use their service or not. It also gives them more credibility in the industry of social media. As a side effect of content marketing, when you are in need of a social media management platform. HootSuite maybe one you consider because  you know they understand the industry.
