Facebook Enters Live Video

flow-1-_alt-copy-4Facebook has entered the live streaming arena. Before you get too excited, its currently just for verified pages through the Mentions App. Mentions is only available to pages and not verified profiles. It would be fair to say that most of us will not have access to this feature just yet.

This feature is very similar to Periscope and Meerkat. Live Video streaming is really starting to come into it’s own. A lot of the streams are people just having fun but there are ways to make this work for your brand. If you have an event at your business such as presentation, live band or personal appearance. It can be broadcast to the world.

It is rumored that Facebook will be opening this service up to everyone soon. This would make sense to compete to the other two services already mentioned. More emphasis is being put on video on Facebook. They are trying to make Facebook the default place you store videos over YouTube. Which also has a service for live streaming.

You can see what people are doing with this video from Michael Bublé.

I think live video will be bigger for small businesses soon. Once this service becomes live I will give it a try and let you know how it is and maybe do a tutorial.
