Facebook Updates Pages

851586_587943001291262_483893598_nFacebook finally rolled out the redesigned newsfeed to all this past month. The redesign as announced in March of last year and refined it over the year till a much user friendly feed was released. You may notice the feed looks more like the mobile apps on your tablet for phone!

Just shortly after they rolled out the new news feed, they also announced pages would be redone as well. Nothing makes page admins, marketing agencies and brands cringe more than when Facebook unveils page changes. Usually they totally redesign the pages and brand have to rework everything. Remember when they introduced the cover image? Since then there have been relatively few changes to pages.

The one thing I really hated about the previous page design was the alternating boxes. To me it was confusing. You never knew when or where to look next. Granted, it worked with the “Timeline” they were doing but it just looked Jumbled.

This is a redesign I am looking forward too. The look is cleaner and there isn’t a major change to the overall design. The cover image is still there and we will still have fun times trying to find a picture that fits perfectly! It also looks like the tabs have moved to be just text tabs without images.

Some other changes:

  • Making it easier for page admins to access info such as insights, activity log and advertising
  • Will have widget on the page to see if you have ads running and how they are performing
  • The “about” your business is moving to the left and will be easier to see and read.

The pages look much cleaner and hopefully will be easier to make content that fits in with the redesigned news feed. Picture sizes and videos should all be the same across the board!

One of the more recent changes that I really like, that isn’t related to the pages redesign, is to see which admin posted something. If you have ever been an admin on a page with many people it can be confusing to see who posted which post. Now if you’re signed in you will see the name of the person who posted something!
