Have you ever had a Twitter conversation that has so many people you have to tag, that there isn’t any room to include a message? This phenomenon has a name but for the life of me I can’t remember what it is. This is true around conferences and other big events. Its nearly impossible to include the picture and all the people in the post without running out of space…until now
This week Twitter announced a change to it’s mobile app. You can now upload up to 4 pictures and tag up till 10 people, with out using any of the 140 characters. YES, that’s right You have an additional 140 characters to put in your message. Granted, this is just for the official Twitter app, so if you don’t have it installed now is the time to get it. This feature will come in handy.
I doubt that this will carry over to other Twitter clients. My favorite is currently is Tweetbot. Twitter is cracking down on third party clients so it’s not clear how much they will be giving to others.
Things you should know:
- To tag people you now click the photo to include up to 10 people. You will just type in their name and it will autofill
- If you have privacy concerns and want to limit who can tag you. The options aren’t the best. It is “photo tagging” is either on or off and if on the two options are Everyone or People I Follow. I wish they had the Facebook option to approve tags.
- The Tagging in multiple photos are for all four photos and not for each individual picture.
This is a great improvement over what was available. One more thing happening to Twitter are the new home pages. They are getting a Facebook style makeover but It hasn’t been released to the general public and is still in Beta.
